The new Windows 10 Photos app is not colour managed, though the previous Windows Photo Viewer is colour managed. Wierdly, they use embedded image profiles but not the monitor profile (they always use sRGB as the monitor profile). IE and Edge are not properly colour managed. Note that a ton of programs are still not properly colour-managed. Hence the desktop will always look over-saturated on a wide-gamut monitor. In fact Windows itself isn't colour managed it's programs that are (or are not) colour managed, Windows itself does nothing for colour management except provide the mechanism to tell programs which is the default monitor profile. I never use non color managed app to view images, so I do not care much how my desktop looks (it is not that bad BTW) It also has factory pre-set modes for sRGB and Adobe RGB, but I use my own calibration. It looks over saturated compare to when I look at it in color managed app.

I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, wide gamut monitor and have a picture on my desktop. no way to get rid of the over saturated colors of windows UI/icons/etc? Hmm, I understand the concept, but are you saying that Windows desktop is also non-color managed, i.e. Images look over saturated on wide gamut monitors in non color managed applications. If iProfilerTray.exe is enabled, then perhaps reset any Windows Display settings that you have changed to their default & redo your calibration & then make sure that it is running in the StartUp folder & you shouldn't have to touch your Windows display settings. I also have my Dell Display Manger enabled in StartUp to run my external display. It should be & would run things from there on. Check to see if iprofilerTray.exe is enabled in your StartUp programs. You can use Ctrl+Shft+Esc, then at the bottom left choose 'More Details' & look for the Start Up Tab. It helps me at least ID the exact file faster. Also, as a suggestion, add the date to the Profile name that you create with iProfiler.

iProfiler will install the profile to the correct system folder & iProfiler will run the system start up to choose the correct profile for W10 that iProfiler created. You shouldn't have to touch W10 display settings.

But I have my Dell switch from aRGB to sRGB depending on what program I'm using. I don't have the same viewing / saturation problem on my Dell WG monitor. Is there a way to get correct colors from windows desktop as well? What am I doing wrong?Дoes your WG monitor have it's own display manager program? Is it running? Same above settings are set for system defaults as well.

Viewing conditions profile: 'WCS profile for sRGB viewing conditions.' In Advanced tab, same i1Profile is set for 'Device profile'. In Win10 color management, profile created with i1Profiler is set as default. However Windows desktop or non color managed apps are all over saturated. Color managed programs like Lightroom, Chrome, etc are showing correct colors. I profiled my wide gamut monitor using i1Profiler and i1Pro.
